How do I borrow library materials?

• Visit the Check Out Desk on the first floor of the library. Library staff will check out your items.
• You may borrow up to 50 items from the CSCU Library System, including the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities and the Connecticut State Library.
• Books may be borrowed for:
  • 28 days for undergraduate students
  • 120 days for graduate students
  • Books may be renewed twice, if eligible
• Media (CDs, DVDs, and VHS tapes) may be borrowed for 7 days and renewed twice, if eligible.
• Textbooks may be borrowed for one semester.

How do I renew Library materials?

• In-person
  • Bring the book or item to the Check Out Desk and ask staff to renew it for you.
• By Phone
  • Please call the Check Out Desk at (203) 392-5756 during business hours.
• Online
  1. Select My Account from the library homepage
  2. sign-in using your Southern username and password
  3. Open the Loans section to review your checked-out items
  4. Select Renew next to an individual item or choose Renew All
  5. Recalled books may not be renewed

My book was recalled, now what?

• Library books may be recalled after 2 weeks if another patron requests them.
• If a recall is placed on a checked-out book, the due date will be changed to 14 days, and the book must be returned by the new due date.
