Searching

Save time by first checking to see if Buley Library already has full-text access to the article you need. The quickest way to do this is to search for the article or book chapter in SouthernSearch (for best results, login to SouthernSearch). You can also use the many discipline specific databases available through the library.

Find@Southern ButtonPro Tip: Look for the Find@Southern button in our online resources, which is your link to searching for full-text. When the system is unable to find full-text availability, it will offer a link to place an Interlibrary Loan request. Using this method will pre-fill the ILLIad Interlibrary Loan article request form with the article or book chapter details.

Placing a Request in ILLiad

When you know an exact citation, you can input the request details manually:

  1. Login to the ILLiad ILL system. A link is provided below.
  2. In the Main Menu, select New Requests and then Article from the sub-menu. Select Book Chapter when requesting a book chapter.
  3. Input as much information as you know into the request form. Title and Author/Editor are the only required fields, but more information helps us when we search for the book to borrow from other libraries.
    • Pro Tip: Adding an ISSN or DOI number enables our system to manage your request automatically. Without one of these numbers, your request must be manually reviewed by ILL staff.
  4. Press Submit Request
  5. Sit back while we do our ILL magic!
  6. Many requests are fulfilled in under 24-hours, but it could take several days to receive you article or book chapter copy. You will receive an email when the item is ready to view in the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan system.
